Last Drop Of Gas

Sometimes it feels like I'm running on the last drop of gas, that in a second I'd find the entire engine stalling as I watch the smoke billow from my rear. And then in between those moments I'd feel sudden flashes of genius ideas that is nothing less than divine intervention in itself. Then I'd hit another roadblock and I'd eventually resign to the sidewalk where I'd probably stay while I wait out the feeling of being overdrawn.

Being Me

Being me ain't easy.

Yesterday I got an almost epiphany. Almost because I know it's bound to be realized out loud soon enough. Well, it came sooner than I thought. Someone whacked me with a fact and I was unable to duck. Thus, the bruised face. Getting knocked out though gave a few precious milliseconds to actually review my life, from my oldest memory to the second before impact. And I realized I feel sorry about myself.

Honestly, I welcomed the smack on the face. It was a relief that someone still sees me and the knowledge that someone is actually watching over me makes me all warm inside. At the same time though I feel bothered with the thought that someone actually misses the old me. That old self that I've tried so hard to change.

As I've said, it's not easy being me. It's not easy not being one of the pretty girls nor one of the rich kids. It's not easy being the smart one when all you get are approving glances from your teachers which translates to snickers from the other kids. It's not easy having to deal with all the insecurities, growing up the ugly child because your sister is way sexier, because your cousins has flawless skin, because your friend is the prettier one.

When you're a kid, being smart is nothing but a stigma. And being good is nothing to be proud of.

As you grow older, the insecurities grows with you. From being the ugly duckling, you grow up into the ugly suckling pig. From the dark skinned girl, you grow up being the worst dressed teen. And from being the invisible one, you become almost non-existent.

And you'd never understand what it's like unless you've been one. Unless you've been laughed at. Unless you've seen the dispproving looks. You'd never know unless you go home crying and not having anyone to talk to because everyone in the family is busy minding their own business and you'd never understand unless you've been called "fat and ugly" on your face while everyone else stares back at you.

I've never felt as confident as I do now. I've never been comfortable in my own as I am now. And I've never felt "pretty" or "attractive" as I do now. And that's a world of difference for me.

I'm not just the smart girl, I'm now the smart, attractive wonder woman.

And though I might not have the same image, I try to ignore that fact. Change is inevitable. And changing into who I am now may not be the best option, but it's the closest possible option that I have to getting what I want. Otherwise, I could content myself with being the invisible girl.

To prove that point, I brought one picture to work last night. It was a group picture of my orgmates and I back when I was in 2nd year college. I showed it to our Ops Manager. He saw my ex first who's also an Ops Manager.

"Is that Glenn?" He asked.

I said yes. He went on to ask if we were classmates. I said we were on the same org but we're not classmates as he's far too old for my batch.

He went onto the floor and started showing the picture to everyone. And everyone noticed Glenn, about 45lbs lighter and Michelle, "the pretty" girl on the picture. No one even noticed me on the picture. And if they did, they never said anything.

Afterwards, I showed it to Hernan. He exclaimed, "That's you? Oh my! Is this Glenn? Shucks, I won't even notice him, he's too slim back then...yada-yada"

"Hey, I showed you the pic because I wanted you to see how I was before, but of course you noticed someone else!"

He then explained that he did see me. Unlike everyone else though in the picture, my "aura" seems invisible.

And I agree. I was invisible. Look at my old face and you won't see the light, the personality. You won't feel the courage and confidence. You'd never know that I am capable of moving mountains of tasks within a single flick of my wrist.

I don't want to be that person anymore. I'm done being that person.

10,000 Frustrations

I can't hide the fact that frustration is slowly becoming an everyday trend in my life once more. With the lack of sleep, money, interest in anything and the general feeling of being stuck, I just can't help it.

Simply put, I'm not stimulated enough yet I am always out of breath and time. Life is moving way too fast and too slow both at the same moment and I can't help but feel confused. Confused because my head's miles away in the future while my feet are planted firmly on the present.

They say my problem is that I tend to think too much. What I don't understand is how that became a problem? If it results to anxiety and sleepless nights then is that such a big deal already? I've come to understand that we are thinking beings thus thinking is but part of our nature. And worrying about tomorrow is something inherent to everyone who has the foresight to plan anything.

I've had an hour and a half of sleep. It's 7pm and I'd be heading to work in a few. And I worry. I worry because I know that frustration would seep in the moment I step out of my house and that the fear of what's in store for me would get worse as I draw nearer. And no, this is not me "midlife-ing" as I thought I was. This is me finally accepting the fact that living life on the fast lane would only result to me missing out on the best things and that loving the momentary assurance of being on a standstill would make me lose sight of all the wonderful things awaiting me in life.

Einstein was such a genius for figuring out relativity. I couldn't have thought of it that way. Then again, everything is relative, so what's to discover?

Halloween Party

I enjoyed the party. Though it took me hours to get into the mood simply because the first part was like a part of a horrible talent back in gradeschool. Hey, don't get me wrong, I like the fact that they're so willing...but c'mon, we're old now and things like that is sometimes a bit too much already. Too cheesy imho.

Still...had a great time. My throat's raw from all the screaming, laughing and smoke that made the entire night such a hazy ordeal.

Add to the fact that my entire body is aching. Dancing is better than hitting the gym. I wish we could party like that weekly.

Untitled

People have often asked me why I worry too much. Kait would always ask why I'm always saying I've so many things to worry about when I'm single. My family's been asking me what's up with work that I can not even smile when I get home. Friends wonder how much responsibility I have that I can't seem to enjoy life.

Have you ever felt that burden that however much you try to shake it off, it just won't leave you simply because you're not carrying it on your back but inside you?

Do you know how hard it is to be torn between the responsibilities you want to assume and the dreams that you want to reach? I know, I've been standing in the middle for as long as I could remember. And in between the love you feel for yourself and the love that you feel for others I stand undecided.

Can I just walk out on them and tell everyone I give up? Will I be able to tell them that they're simply not part of my priority? Will I be able to stand as I turn my back completely on them?

Will I be able to convince myself that my time will eventually come? Should I continue to believe that I'll be young for as long as I need be and that opportunities would still be available in years to come? Can I actually make myself believe?

We all have our own troubles. I know that as a fact. I also understand that we all have our own crosses to carry. Again, I ask, how do you eventually put to rest a cross you carry not on your back but inside you? Will you ever find time to let it rest?

Round One

"He said that?" She asked over the phone. "Ohhh, liar!" She continued to rant.

"Tell him I don't wanna see him."

Her other friend motioned for her to check who's coming and announced, "He's coming over."

She hung up and waited. He was smirking all the way to her where she was standing. She has both hands on her hips with an all too visible crease on her brows.

"What are you doing here? I don't wanna see you." She said when he was but a few feet away.

His smirk transformed into a haughty smile and continued to approach her until their faces were just an inch apart. "You can't resist me." He said.

Her tongue froze into place and was not able to reply immediately.

Good thing her friend started to rant endlessly, "Oh she can, tell her you can. Believe me she can resist you."

"I can resist you, wanna bet?" She finally was able to say.

Panic

It's creeping in. I am worried. My anxiety is picking up.  Please
